Eastern Spotted Dove, Spotted Dove (Spilopelia chinensis)

Interesting :

The male and the female of the Spotted Dove have the same characteristics. The head is grey, the back is reddish brown, and the neck is the reddish brown. The outstanding characteristic is the white stripe with black spots on the back of its neck. This stripe can be found on both male and female, except the one which does not fully grow up, such stripe will not appear.

Habitat :

Can be found in Asia near India, China, Taiwan, Vietnam, and Cambodia. In Thailand, it can be found in every region.

Food :

The Spotted Dove likes to eat the plant seed for its food which are millet and grain.

Behavior :

Lives in the rice field, sparse forest, and the area which grows dry crops. It normally lives in pairs and crows in the morning and in the evening. It comes down to seek for the food on the ground. When it crows, its voice is very beautiful. The people like to bring this bird to feed broadly.Breeds during May to June. It builds the nest on the large tree by using the branch weaving together and making a dent to lay the eggs. It normally lays 2 to 3 eggs each time.
