The Greater Flamingo is a very beautiful bird. The neck and the leg are long. Feathers are pink, the wing feather is black, the mouth is pink, and the wing tip is black. Especially in the breeding season, these colors will be fresher than normal. The female has a smaller size and paler color. It has the mouth like the gill of the whale which filters out the plankton and will drain all the water when it finishes eating.
Has a habitat in Europe to Asia around Mediterranean Sea, Africa, and the Northwest of India.
The Greater Flamingo eats water creature without spine or shell, and the plant and vegetables for the food; for example, water fleas, shrimp feti, plankton, and some kind of alga.
The Greater Flamingo stays together in a big troop near the swamp or lake. It builds the nest near the coast of the swamp or lake.This bird breeds in the winter and only lays eggs on the ground near the coast. It builds the nest like a grub which has the length of approximately 15 to 18 inches by using the clay. It lays 1 egg each time. Both male and female help each other incubating the egg and the incubation period is approximately 28 to 32 days.
