Golden Pheasant (Chrysolophus pictus)

Interesting :

The hair on the male's head is gold. The back of its neck has gold hair with black lines covering to its back. The wings' hair is brown with black dots. The two middle tails are very long and brown with black dots. The lower part of the body is vivid red. The feathers throughout the body of the female are dark brown, and there are blackish brown lines. The lower part of the body is light yellow with black lines. The tail is quite long and has light black yellow lines and reddish brown.

Habitat :

Can be found in the Middle and the Northwest of china.

Food :

The food is the plant seed, vegetabla, fruits, worms and insect.

Behavior :

lives in the bamboo forest or short bush on the high mountain. Its long legs help it moving conveniently on the mountain. In the breeding season, some of the male golden pheasant may breed with 8 of the female who come to its place. After breeding, the female will leave for building its nest in the dense bush. It lays 5 to 12 eggs each clutch and and incubates 22 days.
