: Black body alternates with white The hair is long. The color of the body varies depending on the species. Mostly in Northern hairs of them are black. The southern Ruffed Lemur is white hairs. The upper and lower head are black with white. The eyes are large and bright yellow, hairs are tangled on the face.
Eastern Madagascar.
Fruit, seeds, leaves and nectar, obtaining the nectar by using its long snout and tongue to reach deep inside the flowers.
This species inhabits primary and secondary lowland and mid-altitude rainforest in Madagascar.

This lemur reproduces seasonally with mating occurring between May and July, and offspring being born in September and October. It commonly gives birth to twins, sometimes even triplets.
Head-body length: 50 – 55 cm. Tail length: 60 – 65 cm. Weight 3 – 4.5 kg
